Monday 2nd August 2021 - New Session Schedule and Senior Judo Resumes!
We will be adopting our revised session schedule from the week commencing 2nd August. Some session times will be moving slightly earlier due to the reduced leisure cente opening hours. See our COVID-19 and Sessions pages for more information. After a long wait, full-contact judo for seniors will also be restarting this week.
Saturday 24th July 2021 - Olympic Judo Starts
After the opening ceremony on Friday evening (UK time; JST is +9 hours), the judo action gets underway in the early hours of Saturday morning, starting with Ashley McKenzie in the men's u60 category. Preliminary rounds are at 3 am (UK time) and the finals block is at 9 am (UK time) each day. Coverage on Eurosport, discovery+ and highlights on BBC. Monday 17th May 2021 - Reduced u18 Restrictions
As the Government restrictions are being eased from 17th May, u18s will now be able to attend any sessions of their choice without booking in advance. The session limit of 15 is no longer in place and the training bubbles are no longer required. New beginners can also start on all appropriate sessions.
Monday 19th April 2021 - u18 Judo Resumes!
We are very pleased to announce that full-contact judo will be resuming for u18s starting from Monday 19th April 2021! Please see our COVID-19 page for further information. We will be starting back at lower intensity training and working our way back to more randori.
Old Club News Items Archived
Many of the posted news items on this page were from quite some time ago. Scheduled judo events and competitions have been suspended since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with no new events expected to take place until the end of July 2021 at the earliest. As players return to competitive judo, we look forward to being able to post results and share other news about the activities of the club's members here.
